Surgery

When the decision to have surgery is made, one of our nurses will go over several items with you in the office. They will cover basic information like, date, time and location of surgery. The nurse will also contact your insurance company to take care of any required authorizations. We’ll review your medications and discuss which ones are safe to take on the day of surgery and we’ll cover pre-surgery instructions about fluid intake. We also provide information about the procedure and answer any questions you may have.

In some instances, surgeries are delayed or moved to a different time. So that you are kept up to date, a nurse from the surgery center will call you the day before your procedure to go over the arrival time and make sure all paperwork is in place. Remember to bring consent forms, the surgical risks/benefits sheet and any other paperwork you have been asked to sign. If you forget, there are extras available at the surgery center.

Having surgery can be an intimidating and anxiety filled experience. Our goal is to eliminate as much stress as possible and provide you with a worry free surgery. If at any time you have questions, please ask one of our staff members.
