Complementary, or alternative medicine and therapies, includes massage, acupuncture, biofeedback, aromatherapy, meditation, nutrition supplements and other services. Some cancer patients feel they can benefit from these therapies in addition to their medical treatment.

These side effects are related to a number of factors including your gender, age at time of treatment, the specific type and dose of radiation therapy and/or chemotherapy, the use of single therapy or many therapies, and length of time since treatment.

If you are concerned about the effects of cancer treatment on your ability to have children, discuss this with your provider before treatment. Your provider can recommend a counselor or fertility specialist who can discuss available options and help you and your partner through the decision-making process.
  9. I need a copy of my records – whom should I call, and how much does it cost?
As a patient, you have the right to access your personal healthcare information. There are legal and professional guidelines that govern which parts of your records you have access to, and the kind of information that can be shared with other providers.

There is a Release of Information form that you’ll need to complete to have copies of your records made, and there is a cost of $15.00 up to 10 pages, and there is an additional $.50 per page charge after the first 10 pages. Non-emergency information will be processed in about 24 to 48 hours from the request date.
